Mr. Havel Oren Clontz, age 87, of 455 Grace Avenue, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born November 19, 1922 in Union County, NC the son of the late Jonah Clontz and Flora Benton Clontz and was the husband of Vivian Matheson Clontz. Mr. Clontz retired as night Superintendent of Grace Bleachery Springs Industries and was a member of Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Monroe, N.C. Mr. Clontz is survived by his wife of 61 years Vivian Matheson Clontz of the home, a son, Ken Clontz and his wife Nancy of Rock Hill, 1 sister, Loyce Medlin of Albemarle, NC, 3 grandchildren, Mary Matheson Papp, Elizabeth Howell, and Kent Clontz and 3 great grandchildren, Will Papp, Emma Howell and Bryson Howell. Mr. Clontz was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Claude, Bill, Ralph, Johnny and Boyce Clontz, and 4 sisters, Lillian Baucom, Ruth Mills, Estell Russell and Odessa Rushing.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Clontz will be 2:00 pm Saturday afternoon, July 31, 2010 at Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Newell Helms, and Elder Larry Austin with burial to follow at Suncrest City Cemetery in Monroe, N.C. The Family of Mr. Clontz will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church and suggest memorial contributions be made to Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Building Fund 3619 Morgan Mill Road, Monroe, N.C. 28110 .
