LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Nova Jo Hinson Sims, age 74, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia. She was born June 29, 1944 in Lancaster, SC, a daughter of the late Erskine Hinson, Sr. and Mattie Braswelll Hinson and was the wife of the late William Richard Sims. Mrs. Sims retired from Joes Giant Steps, where she worked for over 30 years. She loved to cook and made the best homemade biscuits. She enjoyed shopping, reading, going out to eat and working with flowers. Mrs. Sims is a member at White Bluff Baptist Church.

Mrs. Sims is survived by four brothers, Erskine Hinson, Jr. (Anne), Donald Hinson (Betty Jean), Douglas Hinson (Darlene), all of Lancaster, and James Jimmy L. Hinson (Sherry S.), of Kershaw; a sister, Barbara Ann Williams of Heath Springs; step children, Larry Sims (Rhonda), Renee Phillips (Eric) and Michael Sims; and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a sister, Linda Sue Williams.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Sims will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Flint Ridge Baptist Church by Rev. Kelvin Hinson. Burial will follow at White Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, September 26, 2018 in the Family Life Center at Flint Ridge Baptist Church and suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA. 23060-9979.
