LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Norman Lee Newton, Jr. , age 70, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020.   He was born April 23, 1950 in Lancaster, a son of the late Norman Lee Newton, Sr. and Letha Mae Martin Newton and was the husband of Edith Bryson Newton.  Mr. Newton enjoyed wood working, being outdoors, and working in his yard.  He was an avid Gamecock fan.  His family was very important to him and he loved them dearly.  Mr. Newton was a member of Canaan Land Ministries and he loved his church family.

Mr. Newton is survived by his wife of 52 years, Edith Newton; three sons, Raymond Newton (Angie), Mark Newton (Malinda), and Norman "Bo" Newton, III (Christy); a daughter, Letha Newton (Tim); eight grandchildren, Kirkland Newton, McKinsey Newton, Colby Newton, Cody Britt, Maghan Knight, Ellery Newton, Caleb Brown, and Ryan Brown; a sister, Shirley Newton; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Newton was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, David "Fig" Newton; and four sisters, Retha "Nookie" Vincent, Kathleen "Catie" Langley, Mary "Pinky" Lucas, and Ernestine "Winky" Crenshaw.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Newton will be 2:00 pm Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Canaan Land Ministries officiated by Rev. Howard Penegar.  Mr. Newton will be available for public viewing in the church sanctuary one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends following the burial at the graveside.
