LANCASTER, SC :::::::: Mr. Norman Morris Ghent, age 73, died Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born January 22, 1940 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Joseph Emanuel Ghent and Martha Ellen Cauthen Ghent and was the husband of the late Barbara Joanne Ackerman Ghent. Mr. Ghent was Vice President with Pettit Construction Company. He has served as a Past Master of the Jackson Masonic Lodge and was a huge South Carolina Gamecock fan and supporter. He was a member of Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church where he had served as an Elder. Mr. Ghent enjoyed spending time at Lake Wateree and with his many friends. He loved his family and his dog "Brick" .
Mr. Ghent is survived by two sons, Norman Joseph "Joey" Ghent and his wife Andrea and Jeff Ghent and his wife Jean both of Lancaster, a daughter, Leigh Anne Ghent Neal and her husband Brent of Kershaw, three brothers, Wade C. "W.C." Ghent and his wife Maureen "Sissy" of Winnsboro, Hazel E. "Manny" Ghent and his wife Terri of Santee, SC, and Ronald D. Ghent and his wife Gay of Lancaster, two sisters, Martha Jo G. Walden and her husband Charles "Buddy" of Lancaster and Emily Joyce G. Cooper and her husband Plowden also of Lancaster and seven grandchildren, Tyler Ghent, Lizzie Ghent, Katy Ghent, Sarah Ellen Ghent, Michael Ghent, Amy Ghent and Courtney Neal.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Ghent will be 3:00 pm, Monday, July 15, 2013 at Shiloh A.R.P. Church conducted by Rev. Mark Miller and Dr. Eugene Rollins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The Family of Mr. Ghent will receive friends immediately following the service in the Family Life Center and suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Shiloh A.R.P. Church Cemetery Fund, 346 Shiloh Unity Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
