LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mrs. Norma Jean Thompson, age 79, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at her home. She was born January 28, 1936 in Willowton, W.V., a daughter of the late Clarence Ralph Meadows and Alvia Nita Thomas Meadows and was the wife of the late Boyd Jesse Thompson, Retired Master Sgt. Mrs. Thompson was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Wane Thompson; a sister, Gaye Griggs and a brother, Carolos "Garbo" Meadows.
Mrs. Thompson enjoyed being a homemaker. She worked at Ft. Meade Credit Union early in her life. She attended Douglas Presbyterian Church and loved spending time with her family and friends, and had a lifelong love for the military. Mrs. Thompson moved to Lancaster from Ft. Meade, MD in 2012 to be closer to her children.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her son, Master Sgt. Randolph J. Thompson and his wife Janet of Dublin, VA., their children, Jessica and Samantha Thompson and a great grandson Noah Thompson; two daughters Donna J. Lage and her husband John P Lage, Jr. of Lancaster, SC., and their children Tennille, John III and Jeffery Lage and a great grandson, Jionni Lage; Robin Reinike of West Chester, PA and her children Michael and Nicholas Green; two sisters, Jewel Reed of Richcreek, VA and Carol Faye Thorne of Pearisburg, VA; a brother, Clarence "Jack" Meadows of Pulaski, VA.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Thompson will be 7:00 pm, Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Mullins Funeral Home in Radford, VA with Rev. Tony Reed officiating.
Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband and son.
The family will receive friends from 5 -7:00 p.m. prior to the service.
