LANCASTER, SC :::::::::::Ms. Norma Allyne Markett, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Harry Leroy Nickles and Esther Allyne Adams Nickles. Norma moved from Salisbury, Maryland where she became the sales person in the Men's department at Belk's Department Store for about 50 years, suiting many of the men and boys of Lancaster. Norma was active in the OASIS group at First Baptist Church with whom she participated in many bus tours and activities. She lived in the community of Cedar Pines Lake until April of 2006 when she became a resident of Morningside of Lancaster Assisted Living where she was cared for and loved by a staff of wonderful caring people.
Ms. Markett was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Nickles and a nephew, Matthew Moser.
She is survived by 2 sisters, Shirley E. Moser of Overland Park, Kansas and Barbara A. Dicky of Linthicum, Maryland; close family friend Dr. Ronald James and 10 nieces and nephews.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Ms. Market will be 2:00 pm Sunday, January 27, 2013 at The Chapel of Hartley Burgess Funeral Home by Mr. Coit Auten. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The Family of Ms. Markett will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00pm Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Hartley - Burgess Funeral Home and the family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 670, Lancaster, SC 29721.
