WAXHAW, NC:::::::::::: Mrs. Nellie Taylor Herron, age 81, of 8314 Walkup Road, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009. She was born March 3, 1928 in Calico Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of the late William Wallace Taylor and Kate Blair Taylor and was the wife of Clifford Mackey Herron. Mrs. Herron received her Bachelors Degree from Memphis State University and her Masters Degree from the University of Central Arkansas. She retired from the Lancaster County School District, was a member of Covenant Baptist Church, and taught Sunday school for many years.Mrs. Herron is survived by her husband of 61 years, Clifford M. Herron of the home, 2 sons, Bill Herron and his wife Becky of Fort Worth, TX and Ken Herron of the home, a daughter, Kathy Howell and her husband Jim of Memphis, TN, a sister, Anita Killion of Matthews, NC, 9 grandchildren, Kari Howell, Blair Cohen, Allison Howell, Elise Clark, Nathan Herron, Brooke Herron, Crystal Herron, Brandi Rougeux, and Ashley Herron, and 5 great grandchildren.Mrs. Herron was preceded in death by a brother, James B. Taylor and 2 sisters, Virginia Cornelius and Helen Taylor. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Herron will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Covenant Baptist Church by Rev. Dr. Bert Welch with burial to follow at Tirzah Presbyterian Church Cemetery.The Family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, Saturday at the church and suggest memorial contributions be made to Covenant Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 578, Lancaster, SC 29721 or Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Boulevard, Monroe, NC 28110.
