LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Ned Wendell Rowell, age 95, passed away, Sunday March 23, 2025 at his home. He was born February 25, 1930, in Lancaster, a son of the late Emmanuel Ottis Rowell and the late Etta Belle Funderburk Rowell and was the loving husband of the late Irene Talbert Rowell. Mr. Rowell proudly served in The United States Army. Mr. Rowell was an avid reader and loved traveling with his wife, Irene, in their younger years. He adored his dog, Prissy, and loved his church and church family. Mr. Rowell was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Mr. Rowell is survived by his two sons, Wendell Ottis Rowell (Susan) of Lancaster, and Vernon "Toby" Faulkenberry (Sandra) of Kershaw; three grandchildren, Chris Faulkenberry (Fiancée, Wendy), Angie Faulkenberry, Jonathan Edmonds (Bailey); eight great-grandchildren, Tyler Faulkenberry, Kasey Faulkenberry, Olivia Faulkenberry West (Ethan), Claire Faulkenberry, Emrick Edmonds, Becker Edmonds, Ellis Edmonds, and Jonah Edmonds; special family friend and neighbor, Wilma Stevens; and many special family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Irene Rowell; and his parents, Emmanuel and Etta Belle Rowell.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Rowell will be 3:00 pm Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Bethlehem Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Patrick Blackmon. Burial will follow at Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1841 N Rocky River Rd Lancaster, SC 29720.
