LANCASTER, SC~ Mrs. Nancy "Glenn" Thompson Johnson, age 66, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born February 22, 1955 in Camden, SC, a daughter of the late Henry Thompson and Gladys Faile Thompson and was the wife of the Joe Johnson, Sr. Mrs. Johnson was previously employed with Springs Industries- Kershaw Plant, Lancaster County School District and Joe Johnson Garage. Above all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She cherished her family and caring for children; many she raised that were not her own. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed gardening, yard sales, and cooking even through sickness, she cooked Sunday meals for her family to get together.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband of 41 years, Joe Johnson; a son, Pe-Bo Johnson (Jamee); two daughters, Sara Johnson McCants, and Robin Johnson Watkins (Ben); a brother, Dennis C. Thompson (Darlene); two sisters, Peggy Melton, and Margaret "Flossie" Simpson; nine grandchildren, Brittany McAteer (Brent), Megan Jenkins (Gregory), Matthew McCants, Natalie Griffin, Kipp Watkins, Moriah Watkins, Nalydia Johnson, Emaree Johnson, and Tinslee Johnson; five great grandchildren, Paislee, Addilyn, Josie, Brenton, Anslee; sister-in-law, Teresa Thompson; a large extended family; and special friends, Russ and Brenda Sorrells and girls.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ira (Buster) Thompson, and Henry (Dobber) Thompson; a sister, Phyllis Bach; sister-in-law, Betty Thompson; a son-in-law, Scott McCants; and two brothers-in-law, David Simpson and Johnny Reese.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Johnson will be Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Liberty Freewill Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Jessie Adams, Rev. Tim Larrimore, and Rev. Mitch Ingram. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 pm Sunday, one hour prior to the service, at Liberty Freewill Baptist Church.
