Obituary

LANCASTER, SC ~Nancy Ann King Cauthen, age 69, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021. She was born November 11, 1951 in Charlotte, NC. Nancy loved her eight grandchildren with all her heart. She loved all holidays but Christmas was by far her favorite. Nancy enjoyed weekly meals with her family around the dinner table. She enjoyed cooking and traveling, especially to the Pennsylvania Amish Country and the New England area. Nancy was a member of Second Baptist Church in Lancaster where for many years she assisted her husband Kevin in youth ministry. Over the years she served on numerous church committees including the Decorating Committee and the Church Building Committee. Her home was always open to friends, family, and strangers alike. She loved people and was always willing to provide for their needs and welfare. For a period of time, she and Kevin served as foster parents for teenage children. She loved her children and treated their friends as though they were her own. More than anything else, leading these young people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ was her primary focus. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, Granna, sister, and friend.

Nancy was a 1970 graduate of Lancaster High School. She earned her BA Degree in Christian Education from Columbia International University (Formerly Columbia Bible College), and her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Carolina. She retired from the Four-Year Old kindergarten program with the Lancaster County School District after teaching there for fourteen years.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Kevin Cauthen; two sons, Kevin Cauthen Jr. (Kelly Burdette), and John Cauthen (Lauren Catoe); two daughters, Anna Baker (Eric), and Kelly DuPree Cauthen; eight grandchildren, Tyler and Benjamin Cauthen; Pressley and Camden T Cauthen; Madeleline and Caiden Baker; Hayden and Hampton Tucker; and one brother, John DuPree King and his wife Barbara of Spartanburg, SC.
