LANCASTER, SC~ Mrs. Nada Sistare Helms Funderburk, age 93, passed away May 19, 2020 at Lancaster Health and Rehab.  She was born on June 27, 1926 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Jasper Ward "Coot" Sistare and Vastie Funderburk Sistare.  Mrs. Funderburk enjoyed working word search puzzles, reading, and cooking.  She was known for her wonderful chicken and dumplings, biscuits, and chocolate pies.  She always enjoyed joking around and having fun.  Mrs. Funderburk was a strong, good, faithful, Godly woman who loved her family dearly and was known to many children as "Aunt Nade and Grandma Star".  She was a member of Springhill Baptist Church where she helped with GA's, Sunbeams, and Vacation Bible School and enjoyed trips with the Senior Adults.

Mrs. Funderburk is survived by five daughters, Barbara Phifer (Jerry), Melissa Knight (Phil), Joan Harrell (Bruce), Kay Tarlton, and Jean Lloyd (Bill); three sons, Robert Sistare (Diane), Lynn Brecht (Vickie), and Richard Funderburk (Valerie); twenty three grandchildren; forty great grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Sistare (Pat); a brother-in-law, Lonnie Humphries; a sister-in-law, Clara Belle Mangum; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Funderburk was preceded in death by her husbands, Eugene Sistare, Frank Helms, and Allen "Shorty" Funderburk; a son, George Wayne Sistare; three sisters, Leedell Funderburk, Gaynell Crenshaw, and Mary Humphries; four brothers, Ray Sistare, Jack Sistare, Ned Sistare, and Tommy Sistare; and two grandsons, Landon Sistare, and Tommy Faile.

The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Mrs. Funderburk will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery officiated by Rev. Shawn Macy, Preacher Cotton Pate, and Rev. Andy Wells.  Due to ongoing public health concerns, the family asks that those who consider attending will use all judgement and discernment and follow the recommendations of the CDC and Governor.
