LANCASTER, SCMr. Morrison Kelon Thompson, age 73, died Friday, January 29, 2016 at Carolinas Medical Center Union. He was born December 9, 1942 in Lancaster, SC, the son of the late Kelon Thompson and Margie Mackey Baker. Mr. Thompson retired from Dupont in Lugoff, SC and served in the United States Army National Guard. He loved the beach and enjoyed sitting on the Garden City Pier. He also enjoyed his morning breakfast and coffee with friends at South 200 Drive-In and Bojangles. Mr. Thompson was a Mason with Jackson Lodge # 53 and was of the Baptist Faith. He attended Liberty Freewill Baptist Church.

Mr. Thompson is survived by a son, Steve Thompson and his fianc, Cynthia Horton; a daughter, Julie Thompson Tyre and her husband, Steven; a brother, Norman Baker of Rock Hill; and three grandchildren, Ashton, Megan and Justin Thompson.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Mackey.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Thompson will be 2:00 pm, Monday, February 1, 2016, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Tim Larrimore. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 pm, Sunday evening, January 31, 2016 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC.
