LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Mollye Small Player, age 84, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Wayne T. Patrick House in Rock Hill. She was born March 29, 1934 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Roy Small, Sr. and Virginia Hance Small. She was the wife of the late Harold Edward Player. Mrs. Player was a people person. She loved her family, especially her grandsons, whom she helped take care of, and her great grandsons. She was a great cook and loved cooking for others. Mrs. Player attended Immanuel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Player is survived by a daughter, Virginia Ginger Cook and her husband Dr. Dexter Cook; two grandsons, Trey Cook and his wife, Jennifer, and Andy Cook and his wife, Cara; two great grandsons, Dex Cook and Harrison Cook; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Player was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Harold Edward Player; six brothers, J.B. Hegler, Roy Small, Jr., Frank Small, Jim Small, Joe Small, and William E. Small; and a sister, Erleen Small Heher.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Player will be 11:00 am Saturday, June 2, 2018 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Tim Anderson. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, June 1, 2018 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Hwy., Lancaster, SC and suggests memorial contributions be made to Wayne T. Patrick House, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731.
