LANCASTER, SC ~ Mildred "Millie" Genova, lovingly known as Millie, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of family, warmth, and simple joys. She was born on June 28, 1934, in the Bronx, New York, to Nicholas and Josephine (Francisco) Pesce.

Millie spent her early years in New York before moving to Connecticut, where she lived in Waterbury, Oakville, and Watertown. Later in life, she relocated to Indian Land, South Carolina, where she resided for several years.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael Genova, who passed away on April 12, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Louise Luchene and Ruth Guerrera, and her brothers Tony Pesce, Nicholas Pesce, and William Pesce.

Millie is survived by her loving daughters, Anna Marie Davino (Joe) of Murrell's Inlet, South Carolina, and Veronica Stanis (Keith) of Waxhaw, North Carolina. She is also survived by her sisters Rita Alexinas and Jenny Finkle, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was a proud grandmother to Amanda Stanis of Iron Station, North Carolina; Kimberli (Davino) Wilson of Richmond Hill, Georgia; and Jenn Davino of Port Richey, Florida. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren-Mikey, Tyler, Bea and Aurianna-who brought her great joy.

Millie dedicated much of her life to her family as a homemaker. She found happiness in the simple pleasures playing dominoes with friends, reading, and spending time in the sun. During her later years, she enjoyed the companionship of friends at Indigo, where she lived for eight years.

A devoted parishioner of St. John's Church in Watertown, Millie's faith was an important part of her life. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Burgess Funeral Home in Lancaster, South Carolina. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury, Connecticut, at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Millie's memory to the American Cancer Society.

Millie will be remembered for her kindness, her love of family, and the joy she found in life's everyday moments. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
