LANCASTER, SC :::::::: Mrs. Mildred Hunter Flowers, age 90, died Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at her home. She was born January 23, 1922 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late Broadus Wells Hunter and Flora Thompson Hunter and was the wife of the late Bishop Howard Flowers, Sr. Mrs. Flowers retired from Springs Industries, was a member of the Leroy Springs Senior Citizens, and a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was active with the former Ball Club, UMW Circle, and the Choir. Mrs. Flowers is survived by 2 sons, Bishop Howard Flowers, Jr. of Lancaster, Mike W. Flowers and his wife Peggy of Heath Springs, a daughter, Teresa Flowers of Lancaster, a sister, Mary Virginia Hunter of Lancaster, 2 grandchildren, Chris Flowers and his wife Michell and Kevin Shute and his wife Lana, and 6 great grandchildren; Taylor, Mary Margaret and Conner Flowers and Gabe, Jonah and Dylan Shute. Mrs. Flowers was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Odell Hunter and his wife Helen, Clayton Hunter and his wife Ollie Mae, and Shannon Hunter, and 2 sisters, Eva Mae "Johnnie" Stogner and her husband Huey, and Thelma Ingram and her husband Frank. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Flowers will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church by Rev. Pat McCain, Pastor Miriam Mick and Mr. Mike Burgess. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family of Mrs. Flowers will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm in the church fellowhip hall and suggests memorials be made to Serenity Hospice, 325 S. Oakland Avenue, Suite 201, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
