Indian Land, SC ~ Ms. Michelina Cutaia Sbarbari, age 94, passed away on September 13, 2026. She was born on November 26, 1931, in Brooklyn, NY, and a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Cutaia.

Ms. Michelina will be lovingly remembered for her warm heart, her love of life, and the special way she made the people around her feel loved and appreciated.

Michelina enjoyed the simple pleasures that made each day special. She looked forward to going to lunch with her friends, having her hair done every Thursday, and getting her nails done. She had a special appreciation for life’s little indulgences, especially a good espresso and a delicious serving of tiramisu.

Above all, Michelina’s greatest joy was spending time with the people she loved. She treasured her mother-and-daughter outings with Linda and the precious memories created during those special times together. Family and friendship meant so much to her, and she was grateful for the love and companionship of her extended “SC family”: Heather and Eric; Amber and Chloe; Jill and George; and Pam and Michael.

She also cherished the friendship and kindness of her friends and neighbors, Frank and Yoko; Danny; and Maureen and Warner. These relationships brought laughter, companionship, and countless meaningful moments to her life.

Michelina leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, friendship, laughter, and cherished memories. Though she will be deeply missed, those who knew and loved her will carry her memory in their hearts and remember her for the joy she brought into their lives.

May she rest peacefully, surrounded forever by the love she so freely gave to others.

Ms. Michelina is lovingly survived by her daughter, Linda Gattola; her sister Theresa Crispino and many special family and friends. Especially her brother in law, Frank Mazarissi and her beloved nieces, Elizabeth, Denise and her children Olivia and Lillian and her precious nephew Charlie.

She is preceded in death by her sons, Stephen Sbarbari and Michael Sbarbari; her parents, Joseph Cutaia and Mary Cutaia; her brother, Charles Cutaia; her sisters, Delores Cutaia, Joanie Peters and Betty Mazarissi.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Burgess Funeral Home.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Ms. Michelina will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, September 24, 2026, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Maureen Palmer.
