LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Michael Douglas Scruggs, age 86, passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 20, 2025. He was born June 14, 1939 in Canton, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Guyle Thomas Scruggs and the late Ruth Mashburn Sizemore. Mike graduated from Baker High School in Columbus, Georgia and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving at the Adana Air Base in Incirlik, Turkey. He graduated from Blanton Business College in Asheville, North Carolina earning a degree in traffic and transportation management. While at Blantons, he met and married his teacher, Patricia Anne Hamilton.

Mike served as a Transportation Manager for both Burlington Industries and Springs Industries. He was a dedicated member of the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, where he faithfully served as an Elder and Deacon. A passionate South Carolina Gamecocks fan, Mike spent many Saturdays cheering on his favorite team. He found great joy in reading his Bible, watching classic westerns, traveling, playing golf, and, most of all, spending time with his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pat Scruggs; his daughter, Sandra Scruggs Seebeck (Clay) of Moore, South Carolina; his son, Mark Hamilton Scruggs (Marianne) of Winnipeg, Canada; his honorary daughter, Selena Crace (David) of Huber Heights, Ohio; his three grandchildren, Tobias Hamilton Scruggs, Anna Blair Seebeck, and Taylor Marie Scruggs; his brother, Steven Sizemore (LaDonna) of Weaver, Alabama; and his sister, Guylene Burgess of Canton, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Guyle Scruggs and Ruth Mashburn Sizemore.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mike will be held Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Jonathan Williams. A private entombment with follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
