LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Maxine Roof Lucas, age 71, of Lancaster, South Carolina, passed away on October 24, 2025. Born June 22, 1954, a daughter of the late James Roof and the late Virginia Wright Roof and was the wife of John Lucas. Maxine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She found joy in crafting and creating beautiful jewelry, and she cherished her time in both the mountains and at the beach. More than anything, Maxine treasured moments spent with her family, making lasting memories together. She also had a special love for the family dog, Nash. Maxine touched the hearts of all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

Maxine is survived by her husband of 45 years, John Lucas; her two daughters, Carla Blackmon and Tina Caskey; her four grandchildren, Justin Medlin, TJ Williams, Summer Parker, and Bailey Parker; her great-grandchildren, Lawson Medlin, Londyn Medlin, Raelynn Lettman, Langston Medlin, and soon to be great-granddaughter, Brinley Morris; her brothers, Johnny Roof and Ray Roof; and her sister, Gloria Cauthen.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Jody Boone; her two grandchildren, Andrea Lucas and Victoria Lucas; her parents, James and Virginia Roof; and her brother, James Roof.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Maxine will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Trent McLaughlin and Dr. Jackie Jenkins. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
