LANCASTER, SC::::::::: Maxie Donald Herring, age 77, of 1105 Darlene Blvd., passed away November 4, 2010 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill surrounded by his family. He was born March 21, 1933 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Walter Robey Herring and Mozelle Small Herring and was the husband of Valda Byrd Herring. Mr. Herring was a retired Electrician, a member of Second Baptist Church and a US Navy veteran. He was a life-long fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels, enjoyed fishing and most importantly, spending time with his family. He loved his family.Mr. Herring is survived by his wife of 55 years, Valda Byrd Herring of the home, 3 daughters, Mika Couch, Donna H. Harper and her husband Steve, and Sarah H. Bailey and her husband Lee all of Lancaster, 5 grandchildren, Neil Couch, Lindsay Couch, Will Harper, Walt Harper, and Adam Bailey, and a sister, Marlene Pate of Lancaster. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Herring will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Second Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Brian Saxon with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family of Mr. Herring will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:45 pm, Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the church fellowship hall and the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Second Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1426 Great Falls Hwy., Lancaster SC 29720 or Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731.
