LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Mavis Hunter Powers, age 97, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Lancaster Health and Rehabilitation. She was born July 30, 1923 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Willie Hunter and Thelma Stogner Hunter and was the wife of William Guy Powers. Mrs. Powers retired from Springs Industries as a spinner. She enjoyed quilting and sewing. Mrs. Powers was a wonderful cook and loved to bake cakes for others and her family. She was very family oriented and loved being with her family as much as she could. Her friends were very important to her and she loved them dearly. Mrs. Powers was a member of Union Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her church and traveling with her senior group.
Mrs. Powers is survived by her daughter, Donna Riley and her husband John; two grandsons; four great grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
Mrs. Powers was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Powers; and her parents.
The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Mrs. Powers will be private due to the restrictions of COVID 19.
