LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Matilda Rutledge, age 95, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019. She was born January 29, 1923 in Sylvester, GA, the daughter of the late Sam Gaughf and Emma Gaughf and was the wife of the late Hugh Rutledge. Mrs. Rutledge loved working in her garden and flowers and enjoyed cooking and sewing.  She was a devoted and loving grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family.  Mrs. Rutledge was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church and enjoyed her Sunday School class and missions group.

Mrs. Rutledge is survived by two daughters, Wanda Daniel and Iris Robinson and her husband, Jim; four grandchildren, Andy Daniel and his wife, Michelle of Rock Hill, SC, Mike Daniel and his wife, Stacy of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Krystie Vance and her husband, Jason of Cosby, TN and Jim Robinson and his wife, Sarah of Fort Mill, SC.; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Rutledge was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Rutledge; her parents; a brother, J.L. Gaughf; and a son-in-law, Bill Daniel.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Rutledge will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Immanuel Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Tim Anderson.  Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, one hour prior to service, Saturday, January 12, 2019 in the church sanctuary.  The family suggest, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, Children's Ministry, 1152 Great Falls Hwy., Lancaster, SC 29720.
