LANCASTER, SC :::::::::::Mrs. Mary Jane "Janie" McAteer Thomas, age 77, died January 27, 2012 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born March 22, 1934 in Lancaster County the daughter of the late Caldwell McAteer and Edna Pardue McAteer and was the wife of William "Frank" Thomas. Mrs. Thomas retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. Mrs. Thomas is survived by her husband, William "Frank" Thomas of the home, 3 sons, Danny Thomas and his wife Tonette, Byran Thomas and his wife Karen, and Jeffrey Thomas, a brother, Luther McAteer, 3 sisters, Alma Neal, Della McManus and Barbara Catoe, 3 grandchildren, Michael Thomas, Evan Thomas and Larry Parr, 4 great grandchildren, Tra Thomas, Hailey and Madilyn Thomas and Mason Parr and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by a son, Larry Thomas. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Thomas will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Zion United Methodist Church by Rev. Jim Elder. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.The Family of Mrs. Thomas will receive friends from 5:30 - 7:00 pm, Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggests memorials be made to Zion United Methodist Church, Building Fund or Tony Neal Scholarship Fund, 1665 Zion Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
