LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Mary Olivia Moore Snipes, age 96, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024. She was born July 28, 1927, daughter of the late Rev. John Willie Moore and Sarah Olivia Jayroe Moore and was the wife of the late George Carson Snipes. Mrs. Snipes loved flowers, shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a very active member of Hyde Park Baptist Church and was the last living charter member.

Mrs. Snipes is survived by her daughter, Gloria Ghent (Doug) of Lancaster; two sons, David Snipes (Teresa) of Orlando, FL and Rusty Snipes (Jennie) of Edmond, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a very close friend and caregiver, Josephine Williams.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Herman, John, Jack, and Charles Moore; and two sisters, Myrtle Hinson and Bernice Miles.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Snipes will be 2:00 pm Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Hyde Park Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Sam Kennington and Rev. Charlie Simpson. Interment will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, in the church memorial center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hyde Park Baptist Church, 1898 Flat Creek Rd, Lancaster, SC 29720.
