LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Mary Lee Smith Williams, age 97, passed away on September 20, 2026. She was born on April 7, 1929, in Camden, SC, a daughter of the late Ralph Smith and the late Ella Mae Watford Smith and was the loving wife of the late Hazzard Gulva Williams.

Mrs. Williams was a member of White Springs Baptist Church. She cherished the time she spent with her family and treasured the many memories they made together. Mrs. Williams loved being outdoors and sitting on her front porch. She especially enjoyed spending time at the beach, staying at her camper at Springmaid, and traveling. Above all, she will be remembered for the love she had for her family and the special place they held in her heart.

Mrs. Williams is lovingly survived by her two sons, Alan Williams, and Dale Williams; her three daughters, Mary Ann Hudson (Ken), Terri Barber (Billy), and Darlene Shurley (Ken); her 12 grandchildren, Danelle Derrick, Alora Broyles, Aaron Hudson, Brea Hudson, Kayla Hydrick, Whitney Williams, Blake Williams, Colten Redish, Krista Hill, Taylor Kallarackal, and Kendell Shurley; 18 great-grandchildren; her brother, Douglas Smith (Leila); and many other special family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Hazzard Williams; her grandson, Justin Williams; and her two brothers, Ralph Smith, and T.G. Smith.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Williams will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Brad Threatt. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, on September 22, 2026, at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Lancaster County Animal Shelter, as her affection for animals was deeply cherished, and supporting their care reflects her enduring legacy.
