LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mrs. Mary Christine "Pinky" Newton Lucas, age 59, died Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born March 16, 1953 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late Norman Lee Newton and Letha Mae Martin Newton and wife of Clifford M. "Melvin" Lucas. Mrs. Lucas was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal Faith.
Mrs. Lucas is survived by her husband Clifford "Melvin" Lucas, a son, Jody Lucas and his fiance' Jean, 2 daughters, Tammy Lucas and her husband Antonio, and Kristy Lucas all of Lancaster, a brother Norman Lee Newton, Jr. of Lancaster, 3 sisters Shirley Ann Newton of Lancaster, Retha Vincent of Heath Springs, and Kathleen Langley of Lancaster, 2 grandchildren, Matthew Ryan Lucas and Corey Devon Lucas, special nieces and nephews, Audrey Lowery, Karen Brackett, Scott Langley and Jeff Langley, and her second family, Phil, Cathy and Rebecca Harrison and Jennifer and Trey Cook.
Mrs. Lucas was preceded in death by a brother, David "Fig" Newton and a sister, Ernestine "Winky" Crenshaw.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Lucas will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 21, 2013 at First Pentecostal Holiness Church by Rev. Gerald Starnes and Mr. Scott Langley. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The Family of Mrs. Lucas will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Hartley - Burgess Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, Jody Lucas. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Hartley - Burgess Funeral Home for Mary Lucas, PO Box 1743, Lancaster, SC 29721.
