LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Mary "Coute" Lou Ackerman Hough, age 71, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023. She was born September 23, 1951, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Freddie Burton Ackerman and the late Christine Baker Ackerman and was the wife of Marion Bruce Hough. Mrs. Hough loved to play coloring games on her Ipad, watch scary movies and hummingbirds, and rock in her rocking chair on the porch. She enjoyed her Mt. Dew's, cheeseburgers, steaks, and spaghetti. Mrs. Hough loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her dog, Dixie.

Mrs. Hough is survived by her husband of 51 years; Bruce Hough; her three children, Michael Hough (Jennifer), Billie Bishop (Johnny), and Bruce "Peewee" Hough (Megan); nine grandchildren, Dannyelle, Lauren, Carmen, Jasmine, Matthew, Kiley, Kayli, Hunter, and Brook; three great-grandchildren, Xavier, Eli, Gemma Lou, and babyboy Walker on the way; six siblings, Roger Ackerman (Thelma), Hazel Roberts, her twin, Martha "Fat" Ackerman, Judy Knight, Brenda James, and Debbie Helms (Charles); and a large extended family.

Mrs. Hough was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie and Christine Ackerman; and her three brothers, Charles Ackerman, Freddie Ackerman Jr., and Ricky Ackerman.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Hough will be 11:00 am, Friday, September 22, 2023, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Dr. Jessie Adams.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials may be made to Agape Hospice, 311 North Main Street B, Lancaster, SC 29720.
