HEATH SPRINGS, SC ::::::::::: Mrs. Mary Ida Hardin Lucas, age 103, died Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 2184 New Hope Rd. She was born August 7, 1908 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late Calvin Marion Hardin and Ida Steele Hardin and was the wife of the late James Loyd Lucas. Mrs. Lucas retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Mrs. Lucas is survived by a son, Arthur Thomas Lucas of Lancaster, 3 daughters, Mrs. Marian McNeely and her husband Buddy of Lancaster, Mrs. Edith Taylor and her husband Jerry of Heath Springs, and Mrs. Mary Powers and her husband Harold of Lancaster. 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great grandchild. Mrs. Lucas was preceded in death by a son, James "Pete" Lucas, Jr., 2 daughters Mrs. Ida Lou Lucas Rollings, and Mrs. Dot Sowell of Lancaster, 3 brothers, and 6 sisters. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Lucas will be 2:00 pm, Monday, April 9, 2012 at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Kathy Hudson. Burial will follow at Westside City Cemetery. The Family of Mrs. Lucas will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Hartley Funeral Home and the family suggests memorials to Grace United Methodist Church, 1905 Country Club Drive, Lancaster, SC 29720 or Hospice of South Carolina, 412 N.
