FORT LAWN, SC ~ Mrs. Mary B. Hancock, age 87, passed away, Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at her home. She was born September 29, 1937, in Chesterfield, SC, a daughter of the late Maxie Woodward and the late Mattie Hancock Woodward. Mrs. Hancock enjoyed planting and working in her garden. She loved boat riding, her kitty cats, and going out to dinner on Friday night. Mrs. Hancock loved all her family dearly, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Ruby, SC.

Mrs. Hancock is survived by her husband of 34 years, James Anthony "Tony" Young, Sr.; her daughter, Sharon Sims (Mike); stepson, James Anthony "Little Tony" Young, Jr. (Terri); two grandchildren, Brandie Wilson (Jason), and Austin Tyler Young; one great-granddaughter, Caitlyn Wilson; and special friends, Mary and David Wright, and Annie Mae and Haskell Caskey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maxie and Mattie Woodward; and her two siblings, Estelle Short, and Burris Woodward.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Hancock will be 2:00 pm Saturday, November 16, 2024, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Donnie Birchfield. A private burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials may be made to Lancaster SPCA, PO Box 3042, Lancaster, SC 29721.
