FORT LAWN, SC ~ Martha Wallace Blanks Nunnery, age 95, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2026, in Lancaster, South Carolina. She was born on January 12, 1931, in Chester, South Carolina, daughter of the late Olin Young Blanks and the late Rosa L. Wilson Blanks and was the loving wife of the late William “Bill” Harvey Nunnery.

Martha’s profound love for her community was palpable, especially in the many acts of kindness she committed. A gifted baker, she often prepared treats for those who were unwell, comforting them with both her baking and her caring demeanor. Her passion for nurturing others extended beyond her culinary skills; she was a dedicated member of the Fort Lawn Baptist Church, where her generous nature touched the lives of countless individuals. Martha was a kind and beautiful soul who had a heart of gold. She dedicated over 50 years of her life to her career as an insurance clerk at Peoples First Insurance, where her warm spirit and unwavering support brought comfort to many.

In her personal life, Martha found joy in the simplest of pleasures. She treasured her garden, where her favorite flowers - daylilies - bloomed brightly, much like her vibrant personality.

Martha is survived by her three daughters, Susan Billings (Mike), Judy Bowers, and Karen Bellavance; her grandchildren, Michaela Bowers (Jonathan Tammen) and Nicholas Melton; a great grandchild, Taylor Todd (Tripp); two great-great grandchildren, Bryann Todd and Waylon Todd; and her brother, Olin Blanks, Jr. (Dot).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Nunnery; her parents, Olin and Rosa Blanks; and her sister, Sara Shillinglaw.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Martha will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 16, 2026, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Patrick Roddey. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Fort Lawn, SC.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, at Burgess Funeral Home.
