LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Martha Carnes McCain, age 91, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Lancaster Convalescent Center.  She was born April 22, 1927 in Lancaster the daughter of the late William Tounsley Carnes and Hattie Shute Carnes was the wife of the late Earl Stacy McCain.  Mrs. McCain loved gardening and working with her flowers.  She enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets.  She and her husband owned and operated Unity Grocery where she enjoyed talking with her customers and friends.  Mrs. McCain was a member of Unity ARP church where she loved being a part of her women's group.

Mrs. McCain is survived by a daughter, Judy McCain Fickling and her husband, John; three sons, David Wilson McCain and his wife, Joanne, Stacy Dean McCain and his wife, Iris, and Richard Scott McCain and his wife, Katherine; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Mrs. McCain was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Stacy McCain; her parents; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; five brothers; and four sisters.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. McCain will be 11:00 am, Friday, April 19, 2019 at Unity ARP Church officiated by Rev. Charles Hammond.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am, Friday, April 19, 2019 in the church fellowship hall and suggest memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association SC Chapter, 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302 or American Diabetes Association, 222 South Church Street, Suite 336M, Charlotte, NC 28202.
