LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mrs. Martha Ellen Cauthen Ghent, age 93, died Monday, March 25, 2013 at Morningside Assisted Living. She was born March 1, 1920 in Heath Springs, SC, the daughter of the late George E. Cauthen and Mary Garris Cauthen and was the wife of the late Joseph E. Ghent. Mrs. Ghent was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh ARP Presbyterian Church and the Patterson Circle.
Mrs. Ghent is survived by 4 sons, Norman M. Ghent of Lancaster, Wade C. "W.C." Ghent and his wife Maureen "Sissy" of Winnsboro, SC, Hazel E. "Manny" Ghent and his wife Terri of Santee, SC, Ronald D. Ghent and his wife Gay of Lancaster, 2 daughters, Martha Jo G. Walden and her husband Charles "Buddy" of Lancaster, and Emily Joyce G. Cooper and her husband Plowden of Lancaster, a brother, Charles L. Cauthen of Lancaster, 2 sister-in-laws, Evelyn K. Cauthen and Barbara D. Cauthen both of Lancaster, 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Ghent was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Barbara A. "Joanne" Ghent, 3 brothers, George E. Cauthen, Jr., James P. Cauthen, Ted R. Cauthen, and a sister Mary Ross Cauthen Steele.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Ghent will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Shiloh ARP Presbyterian Church by Rev. Mark Miller. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The Family of Mrs. Ghent will receive friends immediately following the service in the Family Life Center and suggests memorials be made to Hospice of South Carolina, 412 N. White Street, Suite A, Lancaster, SC 29720 or Shiloh ARP Presbyterian Church, 346 Shiloh Unity Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
