Marlene Williams Brashier (age 89) went to be with the Lord January 19, 2022, following a final short illness related to her dementia that she had for several years.  Marlene, daughter of Robert Hampton Williams and Faye Miller Williams, was born March 26, 1932, in Othello (West Jefferson), NC, the oldest of eight children.  Growing up with very few of life's conveniences by standards of the day, Marlene worked her way out of the poverty of the area becoming a talented administrative assistant to management within Western Electric Co. in Winston-Salem, NC.  There, she met and married her husband James who has been by her side for 66 beautiful years.  The two have traveled all over the US and have lived on both ends of the country.  She was a loving mother to her children, Lisa Brashier, Gibson Kest Cooper, and Raymond Brashier, who will always miss her.

Marlene is survived by her husband, children, three grandchildren (Sarah Gibson Kotronis, Laura Brashier Harter, Brandon Brashier), and four great-grandchildren (Ian, Elijah, and Abigail Kotronis and H. Walton Harter IV).  Additionally, surviving her are brother Tommy Williams and sister Linda Williams Irvin.  Predeceased siblings are Wayne, Nina, Kenneth, Jerry, and Carolyn.
