LAKE WYLIE, SC – Mr. Mark Wayne Hunter, age 72, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024. He was born July 9, 1952, in Lancaster, SC, a son of the late George Washington Hunter, Jr. and Helen Lorraine McGuirt Hunter and was the loving husband of the late Diana Patricia Durbin Hunter. Mr. Hunter worked in construction where he built anything from small car wash buildings to very large business buildings. He was very hardworking and could do anything he set his mind to. Mr. Hunter enjoyed boating, fishing, traveling, and was an avid Gamecock fan. History was a passion of his and he was very knowledgeable, especially about the civil war. He had a great sense of humor, loved telling jokes, was very funny, and had a wonderful personality. Mr. Hunter was a great husband, grandfather, and brother. He had many longtime friends. Mr. Hunter was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Belmont, NC and grew up in Immanuel Baptist Church in Lancaster, SC.

Mr. Hunter is survived by three brothers, Ronald Hunter (Nancy), Barry Hunter (Linda), Glenn Hunter (Ruby); two sisters, Jeanette McCord (Dave) and Amy Dixon (George); stepdaughter, Christy Duncan (Van); four grandchildren, Melissa, Brian, Katelynn, and John Teli; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Hunter and his parents.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Hunter will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Friendship Baptist Church, 5008 S. New Hope Rd., Belmont, NC officiated by Rev. Jan Deans and Rev. Jimmy Hilton. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park in Lancaster, SC.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm, one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.  In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 5008 S.
