IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mark
Booth
October 16, 1961 – September 26, 2022
WAXHAW, SC – Mr. Mark Allen Booth passed away September 26, 2022. Mark was born on October 16, 1961, in Michigan City, Indiana, the eldest son of Jack (dec.) and Delphine Booth.
He left behind his mother, Delphine Booth; three sisters; Becky, (Jeff, dec.), Anne (Dave, dec.), and Kathleen, (Paul). He also had three brothers, Dave (Lori), John (Susan), and Dan (Christine). Also missing him are his Aunt Bernie, Uncle Barny and Aunt Debby, and Uncle Jim and Aunt Linda, together with many cousins and nieces and nephews.
In 1966, the family moved to Canada, where he discovered his love for hockey, and played for many years on the amateur home teams. Mark was an ambitious, hard-working teen, who held a job all through high school. He loved to travel, and visited Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, and many areas of the U.S. Upon graduating from Chinguacousy High School in Brampton, Ontario, he moved to the Charlotte area.
In 1983, on his 22nd birthday, he married Mary Frances Lightsey, to whom he was married for 20 years. They had no children, but lavished their affection on many pets, including dogs, cats, fish, and a cockatiel. Sadly, Mary passed away in 2003, after a long illness.
Mark was self-employed, installing and servicing irrigation systems in the Charlotte and Waxhaw areas. He loved working outdoors, and the many people he met through his work.
The last few years, Mark suffered with Diabetes, the disease claiming parts of his left foot, and finally, his left leg. Through all this, he remained upbeat, and never complained. He continued working, even while he had to use a walker. He was amazed at the people who came to help him at his home, and the many acts of kindness shown him.
Mark is resting at the Burgess Funeral Home in Lancaster, S.C. In lieu of flowers, you may donate if you wish, to the Diabetic Society.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mark will be 3:00 pm Sunday October 16, 2022, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home. This would have been his 61st birthday, and his 39th wedding anniversary.
Rest in peace, Mark. We all loved you.
