LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Marion Elliott Outen, age 83, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021.  He was born June 24, 1938, in Lancaster, SC, a son of the late John T. Outen and Mattie Miller Outen and was the husband of the late Judith Ann Taylor Outen.  Mr. Outen enjoyed playing all sports to include football, softball, basketball, baseball, etc. and his favorite team to watch was the SC Gamecocks.  He was a very giving man, very involved in his community, and a long-time blood donor with the American Red Cross.  Mr. Outen was a Boy Scout in his younger days who became a Boy Scout Leader and earned many awards, including the Silver Beaver and Order of the Arrow.  He loved his family dearly and enjoyed all the time he could with them.  Mr. Outen was a lifelong member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he served in many capacities, including Deacon, choir, RA leader, SS director, and Youth leader.

Mr. Outen is survived by his son, Jody Outen (Renee), two daughters, Melinda Hardin (Sonny), and Julie Outen (Michael Powers); six grandchildren, Allen Short, Katye H. Zekoski (Alan), Leanne Mangum (Jimmy Mcmanus), Molly Hardin, Bethany Outen, and Evan Hardin; a great grandchild, Landon Mcmanus; a sister, Connie Agee (John); a sister-in-law, Nickye Outen; a brother in law, Thomas "Tom" Taylor (Tom Garrett);and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Outen was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Judy Outen; his parents; a brother, James Outen; two sisters, Annette Wright, and Linda Wilson; and three brothers-in-law, Ted Wright, Charles Wilson, and Richard Taylor.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Outen will be 11:00 am Monday, October 11, 2021, at Immanuel Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Tim Anderson.  Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.  Mask are encouraged.
