CHEROKEE, NC ~ Mr. Marion Pressley Ormand, age 75, passed away Monday, October 21, 2019 at his home.  He was born on July 21, 1944 in Lancaster, SC a son of the late David Anderson Ormand and Edna Roberts Ormand and was the husband of the late Joyce Ormand.  Mr. Ormand served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Mason with the Camp Creek Lodge.  He owned and operated his own store in Cherokee called "Big Cove Grocery".  Mr. Ormand enjoyed fishing, reading the newspaper and completing the puzzles in the newspaper.  He would help anyone who needed help.  Mr. Ormand was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.

Mr. Ormand is survived by his son, Kyle Pheasant; a granddaughter, who he called "Sweetie Pie"; two sisters, Peggy Flynn and Nancy Jenkins (Clyde); and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ormand was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ormand; his parents; five brothers, David, Bob, Jack, J.P., and Charles Ray Ormand; and two sisters, Frances Steele and Jean Ormand.

The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Mr. Ormand will be 11:00 am Friday, October 25, 2019 at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery officiated by Rev. Dale Walters.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hopewell United Methodist Church, 3734 Heyward Hough Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
