Obituary
ROCK HILL, SC::::::Marilyn Findlay, 71, of Rock Hill, SC, passed away Saturday morning, May 31, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Marilyn was born September 8, 1942 in Orange, NJ to the late Robert Millar and Bessie Seeley. She graduated from Hamburg High School and attended Morris County College. In 1960, she married Glenn Howell in Hamburg, NJ. They later settled in Hackettstown, NJ with their two children, Susan & Brian. In 1983, Marilyn was remarried to Douglas Findlay in Hackettstown, NJ and gained a step-daughter, Heather Findlay. Marilyn worked many years as a Senior Staff Accountant at Advanced Reality Group in Bedminster, NJ. She shared her love of numbers and mathematics with all her grandchildren. She often took them to breakfast and taught them long division on the restaurant napkins.
She was an avid bowler and competed and traveled the country with a few leagues and her late husband, Doug. She also loved knitting and crocheting. She made afghans, hats, mittens, scarves, sweaters and stuffed animals for everyone in the family. Everything she did was for her family. She loved selflessly and gave with no expectations.
She leaves behind two brothers and five sisters, as well as her children, daughter, Susan Howell and her husband Monte Hopkins, son Brian Howell and his wife Pam Howell, and daughter Heather Findlay. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica and husband Joe Skolnik, Dennis Richman, Maximilian Richman, Monte Hopkins Jr. ("JR"), Zackary Hopkins and Emily Hughes and her great grandchildren, Julia Marilyn Skolnik and Leo William Hopkins.
A memorial service will be held to honor the life of Marilyn Findlay on Sunday June 15, 2014 at 2pm. It will be held at the family's home, 1260 Russell Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29732. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Marilyn's name be made to the American Lung Association. www.lung.org/donate/
