LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Marie Whitaker Moree, age 83, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022. She was born February 5, 1939, in Lancaster County, daughter of the late R.J. Whitaker and the late Lillian Erdman Whitaker and was the widow of J. W. Moree. Marie selflessly served as a registered nurse and retired from White Oak Manor of Lancaster.

Marie is survived by her three sons, Jerry Moree (Jeannie), Donald Moree, and Jeff Moree (Donna); her daughter, Barbie Hilton (Tracy); twenty three grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Whitaker (Doris) and Richard Whitaker (Barbara); along with many nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, J. W. Moree; her parents; and two brothers.

The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice of Rock Hill, White Oak Manor of Lancaster, and the many friends our mother has acquired throughout the years.

The Celebration of Life Service for Marie will be 11:00 am Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Zion United Methodist Church officiated by Dr. Trent McLaughlin and Rev. John Howle.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, in the church fellowship hall.
