Obituary

LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Marianne Daniel Thomas, age 93, passed away, Tuesday, October 15, 2024. She was born August 17, 1931, in Lenoir, NC, a daughter of the late Reuben Daniel and Bessie Louise Berry Daniel and was the wife of the late Floyd Eugene Thomas. Mrs. Thomas' parents were owners of Rock Hill Seafood, and her husband was the instructor of auto mechanics at Lancaster Vocational School for over 30 years. She loved dancing, visiting neighbors, cooking, and hosting parties and holiday dinners for family. Cooking was a passion of hers and you could always find her providing food for local law enforcement and JAARS. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she loved having picnics with them and just spending time loving them. Telling others about Jesus, encouraging and praying for others was a favorite part of her life. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her children, Melba Thomas Ramsey, Pastors Ron Thomas and his wife Susan; and retired Lieutenant Walter "Wally" A. Thomas and his wife Barbara; grandchildren, Pastor Judah Thomas (Carolyn), Staff Sgt Benjamin Thomas, Miracle Thomas Gearwar (Kyle), James Thomas (Ashley), Thomas Ramsey, Deputy Timothy Ramsey, Jessica Thomas (Sgt. Randy St. Clair), Deputy Andrew Thomas (Kayla), and Gunnery Sgt. Derrell Thomas (DeAnna); eleven great grandchildren; brother, William "Bill" R. Daniel; brother-in-law, Harvey Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Thomas; son-in-law, Danny Wayne Ramsey; her parents; sister, Ruby Lee Ford; brothers-in-law, Grays Ford and John Franklin Locke, II; and sisters-in-law, Carolyn Daniel, Vickie Thomas, Nancy Thomas Locke, and Grace Thomas Forbis.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Thomas will be 3:00 pm Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Judah Thomas. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church for Calvary Campus, 1426 Great Falls Rd., Lancaster, SC 29720, Faith Living Church, PO Box 261, Plantsville, CT 06479, or Thrive Church, PO Box 491, Plantsville, CT 06479.
