Marguerite Horton Baker, 94, of Port Royal, died Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at her residence. She was born January 13, 1927 to John and Arria Horton in Chesterfield County, SC, one of eight children, four boys and four girls. She grew up in and around Lancaster SC, where she eventually met and married LT Baker on February 2, 1947. After LT retired from a career in the US Marine Corps, they moved to Beaufort SC with their children, Pamela, born on February 16, 1955 and Teddy, born December 13, 1958.

She enjoyed her life as a stay at home mom, during which she fulfilled a lifelong dream of obtaining her GED. After the death of her husband LT, she became a People Greeter at Walmart for 12 years. She was a founding member of Shell Point Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School secretary for 30 years.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 10, 2022 from 10:30 AM-11:30 AM with a funeral service following at 11:30 at Shell Point Baptist Church in Anderson. The family will also receive friends on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Burgess Funeral Home in Lancaster.

Interment will be in Lancaster Memorial Park at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
