FORT MILL, SC ~ Mrs. Margaret Jean Jones Mathews, age 87, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025. She was born on March 16, 1938, a daughter of the late John Jones and the late Edna Palmer Jones and was the loving wife of the late Layton Earl Mathews. Mrs. Mathews enjoyed traveling, shopping for and collecting antiques, and most of all, visiting and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Mathews is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Layton and Angelyn Mathews; her two grandchildren, Annie Mathews, and Amber Sikes; her three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jonathan, and Addison Ammons; and her brother, Tom Jones.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Layton Mathews; her daughter, Sabrina Lynn Mathews; her parents, John and Edna Jones; her four sisters, Sandra Pace, Kathleen Kidd, Carolyn Urban, and Alice Jo O'Neal; and her sister-in-law, Shirley Jones.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Ms. Mathews will be held privately.
