LANCASTER, SC:::::::Mrs. Margaret Ballard Baker, age 88, died Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born February 10, 1927 in Lancaster, the daughter of the late James Leroy Ballard and Willie Neely Ballard and was the wife of Robert Pierce Baker, Sr. They married after dating for only two months. She was an amazing lady and loved her family deeply. She had two sets of twins, was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cross stitching and gardening. Mrs. Baker retired from The Springs Company and was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband of 69 years, Robert Pierce Baker, Sr.; three sons, Robert P. "Bobby" Baker, Jr. and his wife Marcia, Timothy Michael Baker and Thomas Mark Baker and his wife Sherry; two daughters, Judy Carol Shute and her husband Henry and Margaret Karen Yarborough and her husband Todd; a son in law, Joe Snipes; a brother, Charles M. Ballard and his wife Beckye; a sister, Grace Bailey and her husband H. W., all of Lancaster; and 11 grandchildren, Alicia Reams, Hal Shute, Jennifer Whitworth, Allison Baker, Michael Baker, Kelly Baker, Mark Baker, Matthew Yarborough, Adam Yarborough and his fiancé, Traci Burns, Zachary Bailes and Brandi Bailes and 11 great grandchildren, Caroline Reams, Harrison Shute, Hallie Shute, Baker Whitworth, Pierce Whitworth and Robert Whitworth, Tanner Baker, Addison Baker, Jaxson Baker, Kennedy Baker and Marleigh Baker.
Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Rena Snipes, a son, James Kenneth Baker, and a brother, Samuel Max Ballard.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Baker will be 3:00 pm, Tuesday afternoon, September 15, 2015 at Grace Presbyterian Church by Rev. Marty Simmons, Rev. Russ Wimmer and Rev. Della Hunsucker. Burial will follow at Camp Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The Family will receive friends at the home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, 1026 Grace Avenue, Lancaster, SC 29720.
