INDIAN LAND, SC :::::: Marcel Muller, a resident of Sun City Carolina Lakes, Indian Land, SC, died on April 8, 2011 from injuries related to a motorcycle accident. Lovingly known by his wife as Schnuggi, by his children as Papi, and by his grandchildren as Grandpapa, Marcel was an avid tennis player, skier, hiker, international traveler and computer "guru". Born on April 4, 1942 in Winterthur, Switzerland, Marcel received his degree from a Swiss engineering school. He was multilingual, speaking fluent Swiss-German, German, French and English. Marcel emigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1965 where he met and married Ida Caspar. While in Canada, he began his career in aerospace engineering with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. In 1973, Marcel relocated to the United States with his family, where he was Operations Leader at the Bridgeport, WV facility. Throughout his thirty-two year career with Pratt & Whitney, Marcel held numerous engineering and leadership roles in production operations. He concluded his career with with a two-year assignment in Singapore, where he directed a plant expansion project. After a distinguished engineering career, he retired in 1997. Marcel and Ida spent many beautiful years together during his retirement, enjoying their hobbies and traveling the world. Marcel is survived by his wife, Ida; his daughter, Carol (Bill) Grunert, and three grandchildren, Sarah, Benjamin and Ryan; John (Lisa) Wolff (whom they raised since age two), and their three daughters, Madison, Hannah and Emma. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Muller, who resides in Switzerland. He was predeceased by his father, Adolf Muller, and his mother, Yvonne Rapin. His family and his many friends will miss him deeply.The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Muller will be 1:oo pm, Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in the Chapel at St. Matthews Catholic Church officiated by Rev. Msgr. John J. McSweeney.
