ROCK HILL, SC ~ Mrs. Madeline Garrabrant Hazen, age 95, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021.  She was born July 24, 1926, in Saddle River, NJ, a daughter of the late Daniel Burr Garrabrant and the late Mary Danowski Garrabrant. She was the loving wife of Harry Hazen whom she married on June 25, 1948. They moved to Lancaster, SC in 1963. Mrs. Hazen was a school secretary at North Elementary School for over 20 years. She enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking, and attending sporting events at Duke and at Charlotte Catholic High School. A lifelong Lutheran, Mrs. Hazen was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Rock Hill.

Mrs. Hazen is survived by her husband of 73 years, Harry; her son, Ken and his wife Elaine; two grandchildren, Robert and Marylia; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hazen was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Danny Garrabrant; and two sisters, Marian DiDonato, and Rosalie Caruso.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Burgess Funeral Home.  The Memorial Service for Mrs. Hazen will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Heritage Hall in Westminster Towers, Rock Hill, where Mrs. Hazen was a resident. Masks are required at the events, the family will appreciate your cooperation.
