Loretta "Ms. Lette" Mae Davis Hoffman, 85 years old, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Monday, September 5, 2022 in Lancaster, SC with her family by her side.  Loretta was born on May 19, 1937, to Earl and Laverne (Bowen) Davis in Blair County, PA and was the eldest of three children.

After graduating from John Harris High School Harrisburg, PA in 1955 She enjoyed a diverse career with such companies as Hoffman Ford and Kelly Systems, INC. The career she enjoyed most was being mother to daughter Deborah J. Hoffman. As a mother she found her true calling and excelled. Loretta loved music and instilled that love into Deborah. Loretta played the upright bass in a band called the Wayward Ramblers out of Mechanicsburg, PA.

Second only to her love for Deborah, was Loretta's love for animals, especially her Shih-tzus. She enjoyed living on a farm with her daughter where they raise and care for their many animals.  Loretta will be remembered, by those who knew her, for her love and devotion to family and friends. She enjoyed family gatherings and telling stories from her youth. She was a wonderful hostess and was loved by everyone who knew her.

She has lived in Mechanicsburg, PA; Spring Hill, TN; and Lancaster, SC.  Loretta was preceded in death by former husband, Earl Hoffman, Sr, her parents, Earl and Laverne Davis and brothers, Wayne Davis and Robert Davis.  She is survived by one daughter, Deborah J. Hoffman.  Burgess Funeral Home Lancaster, SC is overseeing arrangements.  There will be no public services.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that those who are able instead donate to their local hospice or animal shelter.
