LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Lorene Carnes McManus, age 89, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024.  She was born August 29, 1934, in Kershaw, daughter of the late Simon M. Carnes and Etta Jane McManus Carnes and was the wife of the late David F. McManus. Mrs. Carnes retired from Grace Bleachery. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Mrs. Carnes is survived by her son, Dennis McManus; her daughter, Rebecca Ridgeway (Mark Hammond); grandson who was like a son, Joseph W. McManus; six grandchildren; very special great granddaughter, Kinzey McManus; and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, David McManus; a son, James McManus; a daughter, Nancy M. Kennington; her parents; nine brothers; 2 sisters; and a special friend, Howard Stacks.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Carnes will be 11:00 am Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Bethlehem Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Patrick Blackmon.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1841 N. Rocky River Rd., Lancaster, SC 29720.
