LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Lois Jackson Queen, age 97, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at MUSC Health- Lancaster Medical Center. She was born July 31, 1926, in Dallas, NC, the only child of the late Ruth Jackson Lankford of Gastonia, NC. She was the wife of the late W J Queen (Gaffney, Lancaster). Mrs. Queen spent her early years in Gastonia, NC and moved with her husband and children to Lancaster in 1952. She was widowed in 1959 when a boating accident claimed the life of W J Queen. Mrs. Queen was a devoted mother and grandmother, community volunteer, and church leader. She was a sales associate for many years at Williams Drug Center on Main Street, an iconic Lancaster pharmacy and drug store.
Lois J. Queen is survived by her two daughters, Penny Q. Ribelin (Freddie) of Lancaster, and Kandy Queen-Sutherland (Dixon) of DeLand, FL; eight grandchildren, Deana Queen, Skip Queen, Dalon Queen, Rusty Ribelin, Kandy Ribelin-Brazzell, Jodi Ribelin-Plyler, Christa Queen-Sutherland, Caleb Sutherland, and great grandson, Jordan Ribelin as well as ten other great grandchildren; and two daughters-in-law, Linda Wood Queen, and Sandra Jones Queen (Gaffney).
Mrs. Queen was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie A. Queen, Sr. of Lancaster, and stepson Danny K. Queen of Gaffney.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Queen will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 6, 2024 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Hwy., Lancaster, SC. A final prayer will follow the celebration of life at Lancaster Memorial Park, 1389 Memorial Park Rd., Lancaster, SC.
