LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Lois Smith Lucas, age 83, passed away Friday, March 28, 2025 at her home.  She was born May 27, 1941 to the late Jacob T. Smith and the late Ruby T. Smith, although she was raised by her late stepmom, Thelma Smith. She was a devoted wife of 60 years to the late Joe H. Lucas. Mrs. Lucas loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of Sherwood Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, David Lucas of Jacksonville, FL, Sheila Boiter (Tim) of Spartanburg, SC, and Steve Lucas of Lancaster, SC; her grandchildren, Ashley Fuller (Cullen) and Michael Kennington (Kimberly) both of Lancaster, SC, and Joseph Lucas of Jacksonville, FL; and her great-grandchildren, Emma Paige, and John Shermon Heyward.

A service honoring Mrs. Lucas will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Rusty McAlister and Apostle Mammie L. Wilson. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Monday, March 31, 2025 at Burgess Funeral Home and also from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 and all other times of the home of Cullen and Ashley Fuller.
