FORT LAWN, SC ~ Mrs. Lois Cecilia Goga, age 93, entered her heavenly home on Sunday, July 6, 2026. She was born on December 5, 1932, in Mount Oliver, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Fredrick Birkel and the late Catherine Vaughn Birkel was the loving wife of the late George Andrew Goga.
Mrs. Goga was a devoted member of her Catholic church, where she treasured both her faith and the many friendships she made through her church family. She had a vibrant personality and never met a stranger, enjoying the fellowship she found at church and her local community center.
She found great joy in life's simple pleasures, whether trying her luck at the casino, playing bingo, buying lottery tickets, or gathering around the table for a friendly game of cards. An excellent cook and baker, Mrs. Goga loved preparing delicious meals and treats to share with those she loved. She also enjoyed traveling and creating lasting memories with her family. Above all, she cherished entertaining family and friends, filling her home with laughter, love, and wonderful food.
Mrs. Goga is survived by her son, Mark Goga (Sandy) of New Mexico; her daughters, Gwen Flynn of Lancaster, South Carolina, Renee Bohn (Gregory) of Fort Lawn, South Carolina, Colette Goga (Grady) of California, and Jeaneen Butler (Jeff) of Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Justin, Angela, Grace, Jenna, Julia, Jack, Steven, and Stephanie; her great-grandchildren, Kendall, Tucker, Parker, Cooper, Lillian, Charles, James C., Liam, Nash, James E., Kendrick, Kamaya, Alex, Chase, Kylie, James R., and Chloe; and her great-great grandchild, Rosaline Hendrix.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Goga; a son, Gregory Goga; a son-in-law, James Flynn; a grandson, Michael; her parents, Fredrick and Catherine Birkel; a sister, Catherine “Dolly” Bell; and her brothers, Frederick “Freddy” Birkel and Elmer Birkel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2026, at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 720 W. Meeting Street, officiated by Rev. Father Javier Heredia. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan at a later date.
The family will receive friends on Friday one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Social Hall.
