LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Lloyd Gerald Buddy Moore, Jr., age 81, died Sunday, December 17, 2017 at his home. He was born April 23, 1936 in Chester, SC, a son of the late Lloyd Gerald Moore, Sr. and Marie Woods Moore and was the husband of Patsy Smarr Moore. Mr. Moore retired from Yale Norton as a civil engineer. He served our country in the United States Air Force. He loved working on dirt track race car engines, hunting, fishing, gardening, tending to his roses and spending time outdoors. He was an active member of Unity A.R.P. Church where he served as deacon, active elder, and on the worship committee. He considered it an honor and joy to serve God and treasured time spent with his family.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patsy Smarr Moore; two daughters, Geraldine M. Carnes (Billy Carnes, III) and Frances M. Melton; three grandchildren, Jonathon Carnes (Casey), Anthony Carnes and Kristen Melton; sister, Clara Hare; a brother, Glenn Moore; and many nieces and nephews
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Mike Moore, Marjorie Sherrill, Harold Moore and Martin Moore.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Moore will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Unity A.R.P. Church by Rev. Charles Hammond and Dr. Guy Smith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 pm Tuesday evening in the Unity A.R.P. Church Fellowship Hall and other times at his home. Memorial contributions may be made to Unity A.R.P. Church Building Fund or Camp Joy, 3495 Unity Church Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
